Hidden Gardens of Hadleigh 2017

Despite the weather (rather cloudy, with some rain in the afternoon), we had even more visitors than the previous year. We also had more gardens open, 28 in total, and by all reports it was a very enjoyable day for everyone. We were particularly impressed by those who continued to visit during the rainy period, sometimes taking shelter in greenhouses, porches, sheds, and under overhanging trees when it was particularly wet.
While the main focus of the day was the Gardens, Hadleigh has some outstanding mediaeval architecture, and an excellent range of high street shops, pubs, and restaurants. The Grade 1 listed Guildhall was open for visits, and St Mary's church did a lively trade in coffees, cakes, and ploughman's lunches. The High Street has a large number of historic buildings, some of them with interesting 'hidden gardens' open on the day. So there was much to do and see this year. This year Hidden Gardens of Hadleigh will be on 10th June 2017.
Many thanks to all those who opened their gardens, and worked hard to make sure that there was a really interesting range of different garden types for people to visit. Here are some pictures:
